This privacy policy explains what information is collected when you visit FrƎƎjack Tech at freejacktech.com (the "site"), how it's used, and the choices you have. The site is run by me, Raymond Knights ("I", "me", "my").
Who is responsible for your data
For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, I am the data controller for personal information collected through this site. You can contact me about anything in this policy at [email protected].
The short version
- I don't ask you to create an account, sign up or give me any personal details to use the site or download the cheat sheets.
- The site itself doesn't currently set any cookies of its own or run analytics or tracking scripts.
- I use, or may use in future, Google AdSense to show adverts. If ads are running, Google and its partners may use cookies, as explained below.
- I never sell your personal information.
Information I collect
Information you give me. If you email me, I'll receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. I only use this to reply to you and deal with your message.
Information collected automatically. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request, the referring page and the date and time. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and protect it from attacks and abuse. Cloudflare may also provide me with aggregated, anonymous statistics, such as the number of visits to a page, which don't identify you. Cloudflare handles this information under its own privacy policy.
How and why I use your information
Under UK GDPR I need a lawful basis for using personal information. I rely on:
- Legitimate interests: to run, secure and improve the site, and to reply to messages you send me.
- Consent: for any non-essential cookies, such as personalised advertising cookies, where consent is required. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
- Legal obligation: where I need to keep or share information to comply with the law.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by websites you visit.
- Strictly necessary cookies. Cloudflare may set a small security cookie to help tell real visitors apart from bots and protect the site. These don't track you across other sites and don't need consent.
- Advertising cookies. If Google AdSense is running on the site, Google and its partners may set cookies, as described in the next section.
- Third-party cookies from other services. If you play an embedded video or follow a link to another site, that service may set its own cookies.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site or adverts work. To find out more, visit allaboutcookies.org.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
I use, or may use, Google AdSense to show adverts on the site. These help cover the cost of running it and keep the tutorials and cheat sheets free. When ads are shown:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info or www.youronlinechoices.com.
- Where the law requires it, you'll be asked for your consent before personalised advertising cookies are used, and you can change your choice later.
You can read more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google's advertising policies.
Embedded YouTube videos
Some pages may include videos embedded from YouTube, which is owned by Google. Embedded content behaves in the same way as if you'd visited YouTube directly, and YouTube may collect data about you, set cookies and track your interaction with the video. Where I embed YouTube videos, I aim to use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which doesn't store information about you unless you play the video. See Google's privacy policy for details. Videos and cheat sheets that are served directly from this site don't involve YouTube at all.
Links to other sites
The site links to other websites, including my YouTube channels and the official download pages for software mentioned in the tutorials. I'm not responsible for the content or privacy practices of other sites. Once you leave this site, their own privacy policies apply, so please read them.
Who I share information with
I don't sell, rent or trade your personal information. It's only shared with:
- service providers who help run the site, such as Cloudflare (hosting and security) and Google (email and, if running, advertising)
- authorities, if I'm required to by law
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where that happens, they use safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK-US data bridge.
How long I keep information
I keep emails only for as long as I need them to deal with your message, and then delete them, unless there's a legal reason to keep them longer. Hosting logs are kept by Cloudflare for a limited period under its own retention policies.
Children
This site is meant for a general audience and isn't aimed at children under 13. I don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you think a child has sent me personal information, please email me and I'll delete it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you
- ask me to correct information that's wrong or incomplete
- ask me to delete your information
- object to, or ask me to restrict, how I use your information
- ask for your information in a portable format
- withdraw consent at any time, where I rely on consent
To use any of these rights, email me at [email protected]. I'll reply within one month. There's normally no charge.
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please contact me first so I can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time, for example if I add new features to the site. When I do, I'll change the date at the top of this page. Please check back now and then.
